Project structure

The WildlifeNL project will run for eight years (2023-2030) and is divided into four different phases:

  • Years 1-3: Jointly describe the current situation regarding large mammals and determine the focus of the research.
  • Years 2-5: Acquire new knowledge in various sub-areas.
  • Years 4-6: Innovate and experiment based on the newly acquired insights
  • Years 6-8: Apply and scale up the research results in the “living labs” and beyond

The first phase was primarily focused on establishing the collaboration between all partners in the consortium and identifying the current obstacles and existing methods of dealing with large mammals. Through workshops that encouraged joint reflection on the application of the research, the research agenda that will guide the further course of the project was also given shape during this phase. The research questions that formed the basis of the initial research proposal are an integral part of this.
